  • School Rampages - Violent Video Games My Ass

Let's Pretend for a moment that the year is 1987.  Atari and Comodore 64 are hot on the market right now.  In a few years, Nintendo and Game Boy will be in the hands of 50 percent of adolescent children.

One of the kids is thoroughly enjoying killing bats in Castlevania or shooting up some ducks in Duck hunt (occasionally shooting the dog for laughing if you miss) and watching colorful 8bit blood splatters.

Then the kid has a bad day at school, probably built up from years of being made fun of for not being able to dribble a basketball, or coordinate a bat hitting a
baseball.  Maybe his social skills are lacking because he was a little different and no one talked to him.  People are constantly snickering or laughing at him for his inadequacies and never see any of the stuff he's good at, because the stuff he excels in doesn't revolve around the school's athletic program.

So, he goes home, gets his dad's gun out of the closet and takes it to school with him the next day, planning on shooting Johnny Jockitch for laughing at him for missing the foot connection in kickball, or planning to aim at Suzy Fucking Perfect because she turned him down laughing after he spent 3 months getting the courage to ask her out.  While he's at it, he might take out the teacher that always asks him the answer to questions he obviously doesn't know and puts him on the spot to make him look stupid in front of his classmates.  Did we blame 8-bit video games then?  Back then, I think they blamed it on the drugs, or whatever else was unpopular with adults.

It's not about video games or violent movies Dr. Phil.  It's about revenge. It's about taking all you can and lashing out with something that builds up inside a kid for years because people fuck with them for too long.  This is a definition of a troubled teen.  That kinda kid is a minority.

The same can go with college kids too.  Personal Vendetta's, trying to belong in a group that won't accept them. Add that to the years of high school preceding it.

I play violent games.  I prefer them.  I like to shoot at computer generated graphical representations of human beings, and blow their digital, artificial intelligent brains all over the bitmapped brick texture of the wall they're standing in front of.  And I know the difference between that and a real human.  The lines are not scewed for me.  I have it together.  People with mental handicaps can distinguish between the two.  I do not drive over crowds of people in my car to see them flail around in the air like retarded monkeys for enjoyment, but will do it in video games.  And kill hookers to get my money back. That's the best part.

I'm sure a kid that has gone through years of being made fun of will do drastic things to see Johny Jockitch beg for his life, and apologize for laughing at him so much.  And, it's not video games, violent movies or music.  In most cases it's the schools.  Feeling inferior to other people is no picnic at the lake.  Socially, mentally, physically.

Jocks, help him shoot the basket better.  He wants to fit in.

Girls, at least be nice to the kid.  You'll change his life one day and help him develop the social skills and self-confidence to move on from you. Be patient.

Teachers, give the kid a break.  Don't put him on the spot.  If he doesn't know the answer when you call on him, don't drill him to force it out.  Some people think slower than others, not because their dumb.  They just can't think on the spot.

Dr. Phil, stop blaming. It's not the fault of the troubled.  It's people as a society.  Not helping each other, and ignoring the troubled.

Dane Cook gets it.  He talks to the crazy guy at work, so when he decides to come in with a gun one day because his co-workers make fun of him for looking like the gamer from the World of Warcraft episode of Southpark, He'll be like 'Hey, Dane.  Thanks for the candy.', and continue with his rampage, leaving Dane unscathed.  And I don't make fun of that guy to his face.  But, he'd take out the first floor, and I'd be safe on the third, cause he'd never walk up 3 flights of stares to shoot us.  And I talked to him a few times about computers, so I think I'm safe.

If games were the problem, wouldn't there be more violence against the parents, and home shootings?  If kids were playing video games in school, Dr. Phil, the connection may be stronger, but you have no basis to blame games or movies for violent acts that take place at schools, or workplaces.

Anyway, the point of this is, Dr. Phil is a cracked Doctor, video games, movies and music do not influence people to kill.  But if the kid has got an ipod, he can listen to some Cannibal Corpse while rampaging.

  • XBox 360 for Sale

Ok, I'm selling my Xbox 360.  I don't play it much and could use the money towards a new vehicle.

So, It's the $399 xbox.  w/ 20Gb hard drive and headset for online gaming.  It has two controllers(one wireless, one wired), a recharge kit for wireless controller.(must have, don't have to continually take rechargable batteries out of the battery pack and charge seperately)

No games, I've only rented.  I'm gonna wipe the hard drive clean. You'll have to get xbox live, or convert your xbox account over.  Then you can download demos, videos, tv shows and junk.

$400, originally packaging.  Like New.  I probally could just take it back to wal mart but I don't feel like dealing with them.  Interested?

  • Funkin Cat

I moved the desk I made in Junior High into my living room, next to my TV.  Now I can be on the internet more, and watch my tv.  Hopefully it doesn't affect my vision. haha.

My computer is running dual-monitor off a 512Mb video card and is also connect to the TV through S-Video so I can watch the latest episodes of The Office, Heroes, and Dexter without the use of cable.  So after taking this picture I noticed the little green lights in the middle and was like, "WTF is that?"
Desk I made in Junior High
My funkin cat was hanging out right there and she decided to show her hidden powers.  Silly cat.

  • My day of Birth

Today is my birthday. 26. I should be out getting drunk, but I'm sitting at home watching movies.

I have no real ambition to go out and do anything.  If I left now, I'd go alone, and not have any fun that way.  In a few hours, I'd be $50 short, disoriented, and still alone, so I just decided to sit at home and do what I do every night.

My only real 'out of the ordinary' adventure today is sitting down, amongst the distraction about my abode is writing a blog.  The one you're reading write now.

Here's a quick recap of some of my similar birthday events from this week.

My mom and grandpa came over the other night to play cards.  With them was also to include, my brother, Jeremy and his friend Frankie, my uncle Sterling and his friend John.  None of them showed.

The idea was for me to get super drunk and lose all my money to Mom and Grandpa.  I had a few beers, but my grandpa was already a few cases ahead of me, so there was really no use in trying to catch up in a few hours.

By the end of the night, I had everyone else's money thanks to Black Jack, and a Bingo-type game my mom came up with played using cards.  After about 4 hours of cards, they retreated to their homestead and I fell into a drunk slumber.

Last evening had elements of surprise, randomness, and spontaneousness.  A few of my friends stopped by at 11:30. This was a 1/2 hour before my normal bed time.  I don't stay up past midnight too often on a school night.  Definitely not on a work night, which is more pertinent to my reasons for not staying up late.  They were drunk, wanted to get me drunk, so I drank a few.  Things started settling down around 2, and then I went to bed.

I have also started playing Texas Hold Em again and am looking for some people to lose some money to at my apartment.  Saturdays work best for me.  Let me know if you're interested.

    Thanks for reading folks.

  • They found me!

Last week I received an affidavit from Canton Municipal Court.  It reads that I have to have a financial examination or something like that before the judge.    But the thing wasn't filled out by the court and doesn't say when I'm supposed to have this done.  This is for the truck that the collection agency STOLE from me two years ago.  The legal term is Repossess.  Geez.  I was only 4 payments behind, I was all paid up till then, and I even offered the collection agency $1000 of the $1139 that I owed them.  Which they only gave me a weak to get together.  No deal.  They already had it made up to repo my truck.  They came and got it a few days later, added another $500 to it to even try to get it back before auction. So, I've paid a few thousand for the truck already, and I owe another $6k.  All for a trick that I do not have.  By the end of this, they'll have $10000 of my money, and I'll have nothing.  How is that just and fair?

    Cleaning out the closet

Our pets both got fixed last week.  The cat also got declawed.  I had to tear up little peices of paper to make her new kitty litter until her paws healed.  Between the cat and the dog, those little pieces of paper were used to redecorate the back bedroom.  When I got home from work, I started cleaning up their mess, then just felt like cleaning and organizing the rest of the room.  I ended up throwing 2 bags of trash and two boxes of trash away.  While I was going through everything I came across alot of papers and bills from when I lived in Nashville.  Some brought good memories and orthers brought memories I wish I could have thrown away with the rest of the trash.

    Movies and TV Shows

A co-worker gave me the first 5 episodes of Heroes. Good show.  We've been watching Dexter.  Somewhat original show.  South Park is still great.  Waiting for the new episodes of  Aqua Teen.  Every night we fall asleep to a combo of Aqua Teen, South Park, 70's show, and Family Guy.  I love laughing in my sleep.  "Will they ever stop making 'The Crow' movies?"  We just got down watching the 4th one.

    Work

More work, stagnet pay.  Our National Sales Rep, or whatever title she gave herself, came in today with this new idea to change our church scheduling process.  I've been working the last 9 months to have it work one way, and now they want to make it work a completely different way.  What a bunch of crap.  So, now, I again need to ADAPT and melt their new way into the process that I have 98% finished.  But at least my php and css skills are getting sweeter.

That's it for now. I'm going to finish up some online poker and think about some sleep.  I have a long day of getting everything back on track for tomorrow at work.
